The aim of the Heidelberger Kunstverein is to promote understanding of aesthetic and social issues through the exhibition of contemporary art. With exhibitions by national and international artists, it conveys current developments away from the traditional centers of contemporary art. Founded in 1869, the institution is currently supported by over 8000 members. The activities of the Heidelberger Kunstverein are financially supported by the city of Heidelberg and the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Your support is crucial to the success of its program.
The Heidelberger Kunstverein displays contemporary art on three floors in a large, bright hall in the middle of Heidelberg's old town. The building, by architect Dieter Quast, opened its doors in 1990 and was awarded a plaque by the Association of German Architects. The Kunstverein is located in an idyllic courtyard alongside the Kurpfälzischen Museum at Haupstraße 97.
